New Meet-Up.com Page!!

We just wanted to let everyone know that we have a meetup.com page now, for those of you who want to join us for monthly meet-ups! The address is: http://www.meetup.com/PomQueens/
You can go there and sign up, and it will be easy to find out where and when each meet-up is, and to RSVP if you're able to come!
We do plan to transition away from meetup.com and do this kind of RSVP thing ourselves, but we aren't there yet! In the meantime, please check it out, so we can all get together!
     Thank you!

Adoptapalooza in Washington Square Park (6/4)

Just a quick post letting everyone know that we'll be swinging by the Adoptapalooza in Washington Square Park tomorrow, June 4th. It runs from 11am to 4pm, but we're not quite sure when we'll be there.
We definitely won't be adopting anyone (since we already have the best dog in the world), but we encourage anyone looking for a family member, or just a fun outing, to stop by! More info is available here: Adoptapalooza.
If you want to meet up with us, just leave a comment here, and we will arrange a meeting!

Spay Clinic in Queens (5/29)

We just wanted to let everyone know that there will be spay clinic in Queens this weekend, and we will be there! It is at the Petland Discounts in Jackson Heights (37-55 82nd Street between 37th Ave & Roosevelt Avenue):

Remember to get there before 7am, so you can be sure to get in. Also remember to bring enough money, or proof of government assistance. You can get more info on what you need before and after the surgery here: ASPCA Website.
While Cheeto is in surgery, I will probably be entertaining myself at the library up the street, so feel free to stop by and say "Hi!" Just leave a comment here and I will let you know what I will be wearing, or where I will be at what time, if you want to meet up!

Free* Spay/Neuter Clinic in Brooklyn this Saturday (5/21)

I just wanted to let everyone know that there will be a free* spay/neuter clinic in Brooklyn this Saturday, May 21st!
I have an asterisk next to the word 'free' because it is, in fact, only free if you have proof of government assistance of some kind. However, it is only $99 if you do not have any kind of proof, and that beats the price of the vet (at least where we live). Also - the $99 includes ANY of the below services, according to the ASPCA website.

     Details and Map:
         When: May 21, 2011, 10:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M., rain or shine.
                    Arrive by 7:00 A.M. for spay/neuter services!
Where: 56th Street between 5th and 6th Avenues in Sunset Park
         What: Free* spay/neuter services
                   Free* microchipping and vaccinations
                   Adoptable pets
Giveaways from the NYC Pet Show
Free pet product samples, including food, leashes and collars
                   “Ask the Experts” station
                   Dog licensing
Kids Zone with face-painting, popcorn and cotton candy
                   Opportunities to win prizes

We are not sure if we will be there, but we encourage everyone to go!
The ASPCA has frequent spay/neuter clinics, but this one includes a lot more services, and looks really fun, so see if you can make it!

Pomeranian Play-Date this Saturday (5/21)

We are not hosting it, but we will be attending a Pomeranian play-date in Washington Square Park, Manhattan this Saturday, May 21st at noon.
For your convenience, I am posting a map of the general area, with the dog run indicated by the red arrow:

We hope to make lots of new friends, and maybe even meet a few people who would appreciate a monthly meet-up somewhere in the Queens area!

First Pom!

We just wanted to take a minute to introduce you to our Pomeranian, the inspiration for our search for Pom friends:

Her name is Cherry Tomato, but we call her "Cheeto." She is four months old, and about three pounds. She is the most well-behaved puppy I have ever met, and we just love her to pieces!
We are hoping to find some friends in the Queens area so she can have regular play-dates with similarly-sized dogs. We live near a large park, and hope that we can arrange a picnic or two now that the summer is on its way!
If you'd like to join in on our fun, e-mail meetup@nycpom.com or visit us on Facebook: NYC Poms. We look forward to hearing from you!

Welcome!

Welcome to the home page for NYC Pom, a place for people interested in meeting Pomeranian owners in Queens, NY!
Although most of our meet-ups will be in the Queens area, we do welcome visitors from other boroughs and areas!
We also welcome small dogs that are not Pomeranians, but we do not allow "large" dogs. If you're worried that your dog might be too big for our play-dates, please contact us with pictures or measurements, and we will see if they would be a good fit or not. We're just looking out for the safety and happiness of the little guys!
If you are interested in a play-date, a conversation, or just more info, please contact us at: info@nycpom.com, or visit us on Facebook: NYC Poms.
We look forward to meeting you, and thank you for your interest!
